   Kevin Hill on Jazz Guitar

Kevin Hill (Hildebrandt) is a versatile guitarist who performs regularly with organist Radam Schwartz and his     Conspiracy for Positivity has shared the stage with the Bob Mintzer Big Band and Newark jazz legends Victor   Jones and Richie McRae. He has also opened for notable acts such as Johnny Winter, Levon Helm, Johnnie   Johnson, Warren Haynes, Stanton Moore and Dickey Betts.

A student of Dave Stryker and longtime Rutgers professor the late Ted Dunbar, Hildebrandt brings a new       perspective to jazz repertoire while keeping it firmly rooted in the blues. “Jazz musicians played popular          songs   from Broadway shows, music people knew, as part of their repertoire. These tunes became  standards. I like to do the same thing with more recent music, playing songs people know the words to in a jazz idiom” Hildebrandt says. Hildebrandt is a recent graduate of Kean University, with a degree in classical guitar, having studied with the brilliant guitarist Christopher Kenniff.

Kevin Hill has performed at venues such as the Blue Note in New York City, theTrump Taj Mahal, Small’s Jazz Club, the Zinc Bar, the Knitting Factory and Asbury Park’s Stone Pony
